Munich is located in South Eastern Germany. It is the capital of Bavaria province and it is situated on the Izar river. Munich is the third largest city in Germany. It was founded in 1158.
Many of the most beautiful buildings in the city – "Ludvigshtrase", Ruhmeshalle, Royal Square, the statue "Bavaria" are in the architectural style - "Maximilian".
Symbol of the city is the Frauenkirche church ("Theotokos"). Nearby is the church "St. Petar" - the oldest parish church in the city. Interesting place for visiting is the palace Nyumfenburg in baroque style. It is the summer residence of Bavarian monarchs in the western part of the city. Interesting sight is the old Pinakoteka - one of the oldest and significant art galleries in the world where you can see more than 800 masterpieces of European artists from the Middle Ages until the end of the Rococo period. Among these masterpieces you will find the largest collection of paintings by Rubens. Other attractions are: the English Garden, the Museum of Science, Deutsches Museum, Olympic Tower.
Every year in Munich is held two week fair of beer, called Oktoberfest.
